Berkeley's main claim to fame is the supposed murder of Edward II in 1327 by men employed by his wife Isabella and her lover Roger Mortimer. The events portrayed at Berkeley are taken from the fourteenth century - not really our period - but it is an opportunity for the fighters to take part in a large and mobile medieval battle and for the living history participants to show off their skills to the public. As most Woodvilles do both it is always well attended
